The villa "Pavilion" situated close to Prague
Villa Pavilion is situated on a rectangular property nearby the forest. The land slopes slightly to the south. This villa consists of two floors. The mass of the house consists of expressively horizontal bright white rectangular solid sitting atop a curved footprint. There are two protrusions from the curved footprint of the pavilion, the bright red office area from the front side and the vertically structured glass tube spiral staircase hall from the rear side. All the windows, door frames, tubular steel handrails and pillars are designed in dark anthracite color. This villa is an example of organic functionalism.
The curved shape was chosen to enable the house to “follow” the sun for the whole day. As you enter the house via its main entrance situated on the ground floor there is a large entrance hall, an indoor swimming pool with a hot tub, a closet, a technical room, a fitness room with sauna, a lower basement and a partly embedded roofed car parking place. A staircase ascends to the first floor where the multifunctional open living area extends over a surface of 130 square meters with curved glass wall opening onto a terrace. The terrace is constructed only from waterproof fair- face concrete desk lined by tubular steel handrails and supported by one circular pillar. The terrace is directly connected with the garden via a concrete staircase. A home office with a large circular window at the head of the room is located on the first floor. The office area is connected to its own small balcony. There is also a private wing located on this floor above the swimming pool area. Private rooms include two children’s rooms connected to their own bath, a guest room, and a master bedroom with a bath. The roof terrace contains a summer bedroom with an entrance to the sun terrace which is partly semi-enclosed. The extended part of the terrace above the home office is called “the Captain’s bridge” with a beautiful view of the landscape.
